Why teams move to cloud desktops
Office IT That Has Outgrown the Office
When work happens in more places than one, desktops spread across individual machines get harder to manage.
Company files live on personal laptops
Client data, spreadsheets and accounts end up scattered across devices you don't control. When a laptop is lost or someone leaves, it's hard to know what went with it.
The office PC only works in the office
Accounting software, the ERP and shared folders sit on one machine. Working from home, a branch or a client site means remote-access workarounds or waiting until Monday.
Every new joiner means another setup
Buying a laptop, installing software, copying files, setting permissions, and then doing it all in reverse when they leave. It takes time and something usually gets missed.
Updates and backups depend on each person
Whether a PC is patched, protected and backed up comes down to whoever uses it. Across ten or fifty machines, gaps are almost certain.
Three ways to start
Pick the Level That Fits Your Team
Every option is quoted per user, per month, based on your users, applications and storage.
Cloud Apps
One or two applications, hosted
Run Tally, Busy, an ERP or another Windows application on a cloud server and open it from any device, without moving the whole desktop.
- Shared, multi-user access to the same data
- Daily backups of application data
- Good first step for accounting teams
Quoted per user, per month
Cloud Desktop
A full Windows desktop per user
Each person gets their own Windows desktop with their files and software, available from the office PC, a home laptop, a tablet or a phone.
- Same desktop from any device
- Central patching, antivirus and backups
- Users added or removed centrally
Quoted per user, per month
Secure Workspace (VDI)
Desktops plus access controls, for teams
Managed virtual desktops for a team, with access controls configured to your policies, such as limits on copying, downloading and printing.
- Configurable data-access controls
- Multi-factor sign-in options
- Central administration for the whole team
Quoted per user, per month
Access controls you can choose
Decide How Data Can Be Used, User by User
Controls are set up to match how your team works. Turn on the ones you need and leave the rest off.
USB and local drive access
Allow, limit or turn off access to USB storage and local drives from inside the desktop.
Copy, paste and file transfer
Choose whether text and files can be copied between the cloud desktop and the user's own device.
Printing
Allow printing, restrict it to selected printers, or switch it off for particular users.
Multi-factor sign-in
Add a second sign-in step, such as an authenticator app, on top of the password.
Where people can sign in from
Limit access to approved networks or locations, such as your office internet connection.
Session timeouts
Lock or sign out idle sessions automatically after a period you set.
Per-user application access
Give each person only the applications and folders their role needs.
Backups and restores
Scheduled backups on the server, so deleted or damaged files can be restored on request.
Available controls depend on your applications, devices and chosen configuration. They help reduce risk but cannot remove it entirely, and work best alongside your own policies. We'll explain what each option does and doesn't cover before anything is set up.
Who it's for
Built for Teams That Work Beyond One Desk
CA and accounting firms
Partners, staff and articles work in the same Tally or accounting data from the office, home or a client's premises, with access set per person.
BPOs and support teams
Agents work on centrally managed desktops, with copying, downloading and printing configured to suit the work.
Branches and field teams
Branch offices and people on the move use the same applications and data as head office, without a server at every location.
Growing small businesses
Set up new joiners quickly, manage everyone from one place and spend less time keeping individual PCs in shape.
How it works
From Scattered PCs to One Managed Workspace
- 01
Consultation
Tell us how many users you have, what software they run and how they work today. A short call or WhatsApp message is enough to start.
- 02
Design and quote
We suggest the right tier, server size and access controls for your team, hosted on Microsoft Azure or AWS, and send a written quote.
- 03
Setup and migration
We build the desktops or application server, install your software under your licences, move your files and set up users and printers.
- 04
Handover and support
Your team gets their logins and a short walkthrough. After that, our support desk handles access, users, printing and day-to-day issues.
Why a cloud desktop
How It Compares With What You Use Today
Compared with data on each laptop
Files and applications stay on the cloud server rather than on individual devices, so a lost or replaced laptop is far less disruptive.
Compared with remote-access tools
There's no need to leave an office PC switched on for someone to connect to. Each user has their own managed desktop, available when they need it.
Compared with a server in the office
No hardware to buy, house or replace. Capacity can grow with your team, and maintenance is handled by us.
FAQ
Secure Cloud Desktop: Your Questions
It's a Windows desktop, or a set of Windows applications, that runs on a cloud server instead of on the computer in front of you. You open it through a small app or a browser, and it looks and works like a normal PC. Because it's managed centrally, users, software, updates and access settings are handled in one place.
VDI (virtual desktop infrastructure) is the technical term for hosting desktops centrally and delivering them to users over the network. Our Secure Workspace tier is a managed VDI service: we set up and run the environment, and your team simply signs in.
On Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS). We'll recommend a platform and region based on your applications and where your team works, and agree it with you before setup.
Most Windows business applications, including Tally, Busy, ERPs and many custom or industry-specific programs. Some software has its own hosting requirements, so we check your applications during the consultation before recommending a setup.
No. Software licences, including Microsoft Office, are not part of the service and are arranged separately. Your applications run under your own licences, so please check their terms with the software vendor.
Controls such as limits on USB storage, copy and paste, file transfer and printing can be configured to reduce the ways data can leave the desktop. They lower risk, but no technical setup can remove it completely, so they work best alongside your own policies. We'll explain what each option does and doesn't cover so you can decide what suits your team.
You ask us, or your admin, to disable their account, and their access to the desktop ends. Their work files stay on the server, so there's nothing to collect from a laptop.
A stable broadband or 4G connection is usually enough for everyday office work. If the connection drops, the desktop keeps running on the server and you can reconnect and continue.
Yes. Windows PCs, Macs, tablets and phones can connect using the relevant client app or a web browser. Phones are handy for quick tasks; for full-day work, a laptop or desktop is more comfortable.
Pricing is per user, per month, and depends on the tier, the applications you run, storage and the access controls you need. Share those details and we'll send a written quote.
